The new semester’s shaping up to be more of the same ol’ same ol’, although the fact that we have to come up with a ‘zine for Creative Writing 2 class is, admittedly, quite interesting and somewhat exciting (since I could probably do a photo + prose/poetry tie-in… but, as usual, we’ll see). Other than that it’s, well… camtu je la, to use the vernacular. Not a bad thing, mind you…

The fact that I’ve been feeling a unhappy and uneasy these past couple of days is, though. Last night was dominated by one of those bouts of depression and self-loathing—something which hasn’t happened in a while, might I add—and I’m hoping that tonight won’t be that bad. I won’t lie and pretend that I don’t know why I haven’t been happy or at ease, because I do. Not something I want to write about here, in any case.

In an effort to drown some of my sorrows—as well as sharpen up my troubadour skills—I’ve been making repeated runs through Leonard Cohen’s “So Long Marianne” and The Smiths’ “Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want” recently. I’m not a good singer, I’ll admit, but it’s for my own personal satisfaction (and catharsis) than any real intention to sing for people. Of course, it helps that I’ll be able to actually play things if someone thrusts a guitar into my hands during a gathering or party or whatever. No-one wants to see (or hear) a bloke ripping through Carcass’ “Corporeal Jigsore Quandry” on acoustic guitar, eh?
